1975 swb FJ40 bolts

Post by Pj_Marsh »

Hi guys
Just found your site and looks like you've got some keen fj40 fanatics who might be able to help me out. I've bought an fj with the intention of rebuilding it from the ground up. Got as far as taking the body off and grinding out the rust. What I can't seem to get is a complete bolt list from toyota, so I can bulk order the lot without spending to much. Anyone know where I could get one, offhand? Don't need the engine ones as I am putting a 12H-t into it.

The other thing is leaf bolts. The old ones are shot, and from 4wdingbits.com they are about 79 each. Crazy.

Any help would be appreciated, cheers

really....?

how about just remove bolt/bolts as ya go and label it/bag it with how many ya need, then go down to blacks or similar and buy anew..?

try jason at classic cruisers... he could sort ya 'shackle pin' issues..

either that or head here for a nosey..

If its a ground up rebuild the cost of the bolts will just be loose change  just go and but some boxes of metric bolts you'll soon use them all up :D

Not the U bolts that secure the axles to the leafs, but the ones that fix the leafs to the chassis. Sort of a U shape and a straight pin

shackles and fixed pins, stick greasable ones in it so you can keep them well lubed up, it keeps them moving a lot freer (and quieter :D ) and holds back the rust on the pins reducing wear in the bushes and lengthing the life of the bushes, and being a cruiser with the front shackles at the wrong end of the springs anti inversion shackles save you flicking the shackles inside out and bending the leaf springs :?
