ARB sahara bar lights

Post by Heath »

I have just removed the indicator and spot light fitted to my ARB bar. What an ass of a job. Had to remove the spotlight to get the stuff out, not a quick and simple job - poor design perhaps. Have to do the other side too as the park light bulb has blown too and want to do it once and not again for a very long time...

The spot light on this side is cracked so needed replacing and the indicator holder isnt working (park light works - but bulb had blown). Has power to the connector, power to the holder, but if I put in a bulb it doesnt work at all (yes swapped a new bulb in too just incase).

Is there a better long life alternative to the std setup (LED etc) or am I stuck with the bulb style and where do I get the holders from? Lighting supplier, local Chch ARB supplier?

We had a customer make a plate to fit where the std ARB indicator/park unit goes and mounted sealed LED marker lights, this worked well!

Went to repco and got some LED indicators (from the trailer section) and will get some side light ones later on. 20 odd bucks each.

I got some 1 inch stainless strap about 1mm thich, drilled it to suit the LEDs and screws for the old light fitting. Not pretty but it will work until I get some thin panel steel to tidy things up. Got a WoF coming up so needed to do something quick and will sort things properly later (probably be years - LOL).

Pics to follow maybe.

Finished.

Not pretty just yet (needs refining - Later).

All up costs 80 bucks. Yeah probably more than replacing the housings with new ARB ones, but these are sealed, water proof LEDs so I am happy to pay a little extra for a long term solution.

Oh yeah the ARB connectors suck big time. The Spade connector / wire had poor connections and intermitant faults. Will leave it for a while and then hard wire them in and remove the crappy connectors.

Does anyone want some indicator housings and lenses? Flick me a donation towards my LEDs and they are yours. The connectors are missing though and I cant guarantee the fittings work properly, but the lenses are fine...
