Any one worked one work on one of these?

I'm gonna be pulling mine apart tomorrow. When it powers up all the motor does is click once and the actuator rod doesn't do anything. Maybe seized?

is it the front or the rear.

i have a spare front so i could pull it apart.

Yeah, it's possible the actuator rod is siezed . The motor should drive to the "lock" or "unlock" position (determined by the wiper contacts) regardless of actuator rod. The motor loads the spring, then when locker splines line up, clunk, in she goes.

Pulled the E locker apart this morning. Not to bad to do. It was full of corrosion. Cleaned it up and re greased it. Re-assembled and ran it up Nothing happen except the motor got warm. Pulled the motor apart and found one of the coils is burnt and seems like the motor has burnt out!! F%#k! Any one got a spare motor or can you rewind them??

where abouts are you i know of a chap who would be able to rewind it if thats what you want to do, it would be better than buying second hand unless you know that its mint to begin with

Im in the Manawatu... what is it worth too rewind? im kinda stuck now. bugger all options!!

there is a place in the US that make a kit to make them a cable locker, try a google and look at the cost, could be a better option in the long run. There is a bit of info about on making your own.

ive had verious small dc stuff rewind for around the $150ish mark just depends on what condition and how much work but all of the motors ive had done get abused and still going strong
worth considering if its only the motor thats faulty

Not a problem. Appreciate the help. I'm not quite sure if it's just the motor that needs rewinding. I know there is a short on one of the windings. The motor has had water in it at some point.

It doesnt require a lot of force to activate however it would need to be a double action ram and be a fair bit of mucking around to set up.
far better option is to get motor rewound, fiddly job but be people around that would do it. if the armture is sound after ark up it should be good to re do. seek an expert. wont cost much to evaluate armature.

Got the motor sorted. Just having problems with the cover stops fouling up with the bi-directional springs when the motor fires up. Its like its going the wrong way or something and fouling with it??

Without the cover attached to the housing the locker works fine. Applying pressure to the actuator Rod the springs load up and releases the the Rod.

How did you get the motor sorted? is all your wiring factory and working properly.? when the locker is activated the motor cranks up the pressure on the spring and then switches off. then when the teeth line up in the diff the spring is what pushes the arm across and clunk its in . i had to muck around with mine quite a bit to get it to behave but I had custom relays and wireing. which brings me to the next thing you should be looking at. the slide switches in the back that slide on the wheel. they are what tell the relays what position the motor is in. have you used electrical grease on those contacts? think ordinary grease conducts electricity and therefore could interfere with it. if those slide switches dont turn the power off to the motor when they should the motor will keep cranking the pressure on untill the spring stops slide past the stops and it will jam up. you need to examine the setup untill you get a good understanding of all aspects of how it works to find the issue. good luck.

After studying the locker for hours I found When I sent it to our local re-winders they had the polarity around the wrong way when they fix a few snapped wires. So when I tried running it up on the truck harness it was going the wrong way and fouling on the stoppers. For the Factory wiring. No its been completely re wired so I can engage the locker anytime. Thanks for the help

Locker has given up the ghost. After Putting it back together and running it a few times the motor has short out completely. Sadly in lock position ha. Does anyone know where or who rewinds small Dc motors?
