Well last night was at a mates house, and was heading back home, when I was walking down the drive way, and seen four guys around my truck, as soon as they saw me they took of ran down the road and into a waiting car, it was to dark to see them probably , This is getting ridiculous,and out of hand what to do mmm loaded shot gun with rifled slugs

should have run after them while calling the police, they can be done for attempted theft etc just for even being on your property or looking at with intent to steal it.

Yeah I think at least I'd get away with that, it's prado landcruiser, if I hadn't walked out when i did they would of been gone. Now thinking of getting some kind of an alarm, any one. No of any one good in chch that does it?

How about bombarding local mp's or local police commanders?

Wire a sensor and a bigass capacitor to the vehicle. Make em think twice about touching things that ain't theirs when they can't feel their hands.

That site that was posted recently on alarms with reviews and what not is quite a good read if you go that way.

Catch one of them, set it up. A few years ago there was a group of thieving C***S stealing old cars down here, one fella had his garage broken into but didnt take his Falcon. Next night waited in the garage with shotgun.Caught the guy.. not saying use a shotgun but surely somebody can set this up?

These tossers need to be taught a lesson!!! Even if they are caught they get a slap on the hand with a wet bus ticket! Grrr. If we had consequences for actions that were real world then these thieves might think again before commiting crimes. But as usual the powers to be don't live in the real world. They have a warped sense of value of a weeks work! Grrrr.

Ive already got combined clubs to ask the police whats going on..they were far from helpful....if an organisation thats 13 clubs & maybe 400 members get nowhere i doubt you wil get far ....but go for it....ill see if Mike Yardley on News Talk ZB can stir someting up.

Yeah the hole thing really guts me as us guys work really hard for our toys and what mods we do to them. Then to have some one come along and just take it, I was talking to the alarm guy that as been mentioned on here and said if their is enough guys interested he would come down and do a deal for us, his feed back is top notch

Have thought about a 12v inverter livening all metal work to 230v when the vehicles alarm is triggered Could end up with a legal issue thou.

well i cant do anything except build my little thing for ore that shows 4wds being stolen in areas. hopefully if anything it shows a trend for which something will get done about it. Car wreckers and scrap metal dealers are now by law required to report a stolen car or parts and if they don't they will be fined 10k.

i know there was a wrx and a levin involved in trying to take my mates r33 from his house 4 failed attempts

Ok then so how about something public? Look at what the Waipara combined protest rally did last year or the year before. Organise a public convoy of 4wd's and do circuits around the central police station until they take notice - no hang on, we'll get done under the cruising law.

A few people have done their best to get some attention on this to no avail.
Ok so we NEED and I say WE need to be proactive and MAKE the police, politicians, insurance firms take notice.

How about people contasct their insurance companies in writing or by email and just persist demanding to know what is being done!

Last time one of my cars was stolen I took out an ad in the public notices asking for names & whats left of the car $1500 in return for successful mission.
Was surprised when the theifs own brother rolled on him while the Saturdays paper was still warm
Had names / schematic of the property & where the parts were - and best of all, a huge dope score hidden in the attic - I wouldnt have wasted the cops time but when the dope bit came up & whom they owed money to for it - well, it was poetry in the end....Not only did the cops rain on their plans - a certain angry group of men also did a few bad things to them

Also - car alarms are only good if you are sleeping in it IMHO, chaining it up is best medicine

i've thought about that zephyrheaven and chaining or hooking ya winch rope up to something solid is only as good as big bolt cutters.

Look back through the last most recent stolen posts in ChCh - BOTH were parked outside public work areas (a mitre 10 and Falsgrave st),both were taken during work hours where it MUST have been known that those vehicles were there regularly. This to my way of thinking doesn't scream random..it says organised.

How do you combat that? - become organised yourself.

My first 4wd was stolen around year 2000 and I never got it back let alone heard what happened to it. Let everyone of us whether we have a set up 4wd or a customised street car get organised to FIGHT back!!!!
