Runva EWX9500-Q Winch Wiring.

Post by Henry »

Hi

Just trying to fit my new winch and I need a wiring diagram.
the problem is the winch is marked F1 in 2 places.
It has a terminal marked + which I have connected to red. the Black I have connected to Earth.

Have 4 terminals on Winch.
1. So terminal marked + is at back by end cap. Currently Red wire.
2. F1 at back is close to drum
3. F1 at Front is by end cap
4. Earth is at Front by Drum.

the problem is the Blue and Yellow.

Where on the winch do they go?

HELP

Hi Henry,

Usual the winch is colour coded with a coloured ring on the terminals on the motor on the winch.

I will have a look for you.

Blue goes on terminal near end cap, yellow goes on bottom terminal near the winch drum and red is on top terminal near winch drum.

Hope this helps.

Edit: That's how it is on my winch but mine is a GEW 10,000Lb winch, also black on front of motor near end cap.

Cheers

hi guys was just checking mine when you posted drurban and mine 9500q is different to what you posted tho mine has been on a couple of trucks and setups so may of ended up different. but works fine so thought you might want to double check. memory fart between truck and comp for example
mine is red by drum. blue on same side by end cap.
oposite side black direct to motor body by drum . yellow same side by end cap
mine has been apart so may of rotated .
next opinion post should clarify

Blue and red are crossed up.
Red should be on the cap and blue and yellow are each side of the fields with the casing earthed.
To test with just leads and it all disconnected from the solenoid join blue and red and power up yellow with positive for one direction. For the other way, join yellow and red and power up blue.

Hope this helps.

I keep looking for the loose nut behind the wheel, but I can't find it!!

Hi

I did want to say thanks for the help. And explain a bit.

So I bought the winch as my birthday present and decided to get a local outfit to install it.
I got the truck back after a day with the wires to the winch disconnected and told that they didn't have a wiring diagram so couldn't finish things.
The transmission oil cooler had also been moved and left to float around.
To be fair I think that they had under quoted for the work. Given the cooler needed to be moved. I am really happy with the way the winch is mounted behind the front bumper and the plate it is sitting on. I mount the number plate in front of the Fairy Lead when not in use. They had to replace they wires from the winch as they were not long enough.

I have spent most of the day installing a new oil cooler that had mounting points on it and was not full of dirt. I then fabricated the mount for the solenoid box.

I am really happy with the way things are now.

I shopped around auto sparkys for an install, but when i sat down to think about it... there was noting that needed to be cut/welded... so i just did it myself... ah jeep... just bolt on...

i did also need to get some longer cables so the solenoid could go under the hood.

My only concern is having the unit permanently wired to the battery...

I'm considering installing on of these

Is your permanently wired...?

I have a drawer full of those switches at work. Install a dozen or so of those a week and have never entertained the idea of putting one in the truck :?
One less thing to break down
Switch the low tension activation circuit if you are worried about accidental activation.

Cheers,
I keep looking for the loose nut behind the wheel, but I can't find it!!

those 701's wouldnt be big enough for the continous current draw you'd need one of the bigger 720's

you'd only need one of those if you were worried about one of the solanoids sticking on and not being able to shut the winch off, I've heard it can happen but never known of an instance of it happening

if you've got in cab in/out switches you can run those through a switch somewhere to isolate the winch so nobody can play with the buttons

The 701 has continuous rating of 275amps, and peek load of 1250amps for 10 seconds...

There spec sheet says - Intermittent Rating: 455 Amps DC
what sort of duration are they referring to by Intermittent...?

The winch has a peak draw of 530amps...

But yeah... i should look at the 720...
I don't want to get done over just because i went cheap... ;)

P.s. I finally got to play with my winch today at woodhill... seams to have a nice amount of pull... :)
Will try some harder ones next time...
