long travel spline wanted

long travel spline wanted

half way through making a driveshaft for my SOA 70 series
and the factory spline doesnt have enough travel, has 3-4 inches
i think ill need at least 6-8 inches of travel on the sliding spline

has any body got any suggestions, im a machinist so open to any ideas
do any cars have a long travel from factory or do i need to buy something

i will as a last resort but its a lot of work and id have to learn to use our spark eroder first :D

mate,spark eroders the easy part,spline cutting taskes longer i would think,oh actually,need to make electrode so na maybe not :lol:

have a look at the aussy hilux sites as i think they do either a 300mm or even longer unit no idea of costs tho

You can buy a 21 spline male and female that are 300mm long. They are used on tractor PTO shafts. I had one in my old LN60 front D/S. Was only about $40 10 years ago :D

na bugger that id use our wire cut to make the electrode 8)

Power farming also sell them I think, but any farming supply store that sell's equipment for tractors etc will have them
