i have a HJ60 and its had a SOA lift and iv snapped one of the leafs on the front. its got 2 extra leafs in there at the minuet too. also at the last WOF they said the spring were almost flat and may need replacing soon.
What should i do??
1. should i get a 2nd hand set of standard ones for the front? iv read people use them. but mine has 2 extra leafs in there.
2.maybe i can get the broken leaf replaced??
any advice would be great. thanks.

With SOA, it's best with flat springs otherwise it just gets too high and unstable. Standard spring pack has 6 or 7 leaves, and best replace with 2nd hand since you need old saggy springs. Just replace the broken leaf and keep the others so it's still a close match to the other side. You may need to have an anti-wrap bar installed (assuming you haven't) to prevent the springs twisting under torque - which is a likely cause of the broken spring.

can i replace the broken leaf in the pack myself or do i have to send it away?
think i may just try and find a standard 2nd hand set if they work and replace the fronts both sides.
its not got a anti-wrap bar but the SOA is 10 years old now and iv abused the truck over the last 3 years iv owned it, think it was just time for it to snap.

It's not hard to separate the spring pack - just pry open the locating hoops, and undo (or grind off) the centre pin. Swap over the broken one and clamp together in a vice or G-clamp and bolt up again. Make sure the replacement is the same overall length, with the centre pin at the same place. 40, 60, and 70 series springs are all different...

and dont let wof people tell you that flat springs are a wof issue. worn rubbers yes. loose unclamped springs yes but not the curvature .
