Details of a one dag tag-a-long event in the Whangarei area.
Seldom do you get such an opportunity to acces the many Northland forests but Rayonier have given permission for this event.

28 April 2012
Glenbervie School one day tag-along A one day tag along event organised by Glenbervie School in conjunction with Whangarei 4WD Club. The trail will cover country inside the Rayonier Matariki Forests Glenbervie block and surrounding farmlands, which are normally inaccessible to the public. The safari will provide amazing native bush, forest and coastal views. The event is suitable for all road legal, low range 4wd vehicles (suitable for shiny) and late model high clearance SUVs with EBS and traction control (at the discretion of the organisers). This promises to be a great day out for both individuals and families, with track options ranging from easy to challenging. Registration Cost: $90 per vehicle including the driver; extra adult $12; child under 15 years $8. These fees include morning tea and lunch. For more information and registration forms available at www.glenbervie.school.nz or phone the school office on 09 4375812 or email wilmam@glenbervie.school.nz

Just spent all of yesterday (Sat) checking out some of the properties for this trip. Awesome! Great views from the tops of some of the hills. Great assortment of tracks. I hope the weather is fine for the day to enable everyone to get around most of the tracks. If wet then the tracks become more limited for shiney trucks, but should be fun all the same. We get into some areas normally not available and cover quite a distance. Come along and enjoy a fabulous and relaxing days 4 wheeling.
In my opinion the cost is cheap for what is planned.

Been out helping organise this run again yesterday. What a great trip this is going to be. Aimed more at shiny vehicles but with a few little areas that may test the more experienced capable vehicles as well. Very scenic with over 70km of off road tracks and forestry roads. The forecast is for wet weather leading up to next Saturday so some areas may be slippery. If too wet some tracks may not be able to be used so here's hoping the weather turns out OK. Heaps of work has been put into making the trip worth while for those attending, no matter what experience you have.
This event is next Saturday (28th April) so get your entry in now or you may miss out, numbers are limited. :D

Trucks will be split into smaller groups of similar vehicles with similar tyres, we are trying to cater for everybody so the road tyred vehicles will go on the easier tracks etc.

We took a forester, jimny and rav4 around a couple of weeks ago all on road tyres and last weekend we had a 1958 S2 landy on AT's and all good. Anybody going should be prepared to let air out of their tyres an air compressor will be available at the end of the day to inflate them again.

check out http://www.whangarei4x4.org for a link to the application form and more details

LOL Sorry. I was in group one, so just got the footage in my group. I just did the shiny trip.

The Mitsi Space Van got up one place where an experienced driver in a Prado couldn't, I had to tow the prado.

The Silverstone tyres were overkill but they did have the go almost anywhere effect:-)

That was a very good trip, I could have handled another day there no problem. Whangerei club have a few good places up there, we did a recce a few weeks ago with them and LR Club checking out a place about 40 min Nth of Whangarei, it has a LOT of potential. I think my video of that is public.

I went up and back to the Glenbervie trip the same day from AKL, plus switched tyres, it was a long day:-(
