Dunno much about exhaust performance but it cost me around $1300 to have new exhausts made up for my cruiser
The extra performance would have to be worth the cost of the exhaust

He is right about the std front pipe collapsing internally and causing cracked heads. Probably 2" pipe with a performance muffler and maybe a hotdog to cut the cackle

The primary pipe below the manifold is a twin skin design and they corrode between them which normally crushes the inner pipe causing a build up of heat to go back into the head that then normally cracks it. The manifolds are also prone to cracking too.
I can do headers for 8 or 16v models @ $245 Incl GST if your interested.
Cheers Mudfkr.

The factory system is what sh!ts it self and any after market headers will fix the problem so yes if you all ready have after market replacement headers you got it fixed !

I just installed a shiny new set of Coby extractors on my 16v. $250 including postage.
They also come painted (I assume high temp paint, yet to find out) orange, which looks pretty cool sitting in the engine bay. (I will post a photo soon)
I just need to get a new flange welded to them to connect to the rest of the exhaust system. And I will take out the cat at the same time.
Btw, its sounds really mean without the muffler, hehe, but I couldnt drive too much, as the neighbours were sure to kill me if I kept revving it.

I have bad news about the nice shiny paint I'm afraid.... Make sure your truck is outside with the bonnet up the first time you start it, or youre gonna think its on fire, plus stink out your garage

... It burns off pretty quick.

oh damn. I started it before, and I did smell a burning smell, but I was hoping that was the gasket burning itself in.
So am I goign to end up with some black nasty looking ones?

Correct

My coby ones have just done that on first decent length run.... Looked mint when first installed. But now look like your standard manky extractors

The only good thing about the shine paint is you can prove to the owner that the engine ran when he was not there

ok, so the standard headers, rust out from the inside and thus making the internal diameter of the pipe smaller, and thus causing more heat, and more preasure. this causes the head to crack and head gaskets to blow.
extractors don't get as hot, and flow better, so you killing 2 birds with one stone.
I'm going to be doing this with rage extractors and then a 2 inch exhaust with a custom glass pack muffler

Ok, just got a new section of pipe to connect the new extractors to the existing exhaust welded up. (cos before it was a little noisy, hehe)
The car is going sooooo much better now, smoother, more power. Definately good.
I am not sure about the Rage, but the Coby's have equal length runners, which I think help to 'tune' the extractors.
But yeah, I would recommend extractors to anyone with a spare $250-300
