Are these OK for rim flip?

Post by drive it ... »

Hi all
are these Niss rims OK for getting the centres flipped and can you put the centre back in to suit the offset I want or do they have to be welded back in to the same place? If the later what OS would they end up as? -50 or so at a guess looking at pic? They're 15 x 8's, Grande Road rims

coz of the profile of the rim theres a bit of movement where they can reweld the centre but usually not a hell of a lot, the rim below is a 10" and you can see the profile you've got to play with on that

Cheers for the pic Sadam. That shows up the adjustment room. Whats the hole drilled in midle of your rim - are you running the valves in the centre?

yeah its got the valve holes redrilled in the centres so they dont get caught on anything, that 10" rim will be different to those saf ones so you'll probably end up with very little backspace and just about all offset. I've got an 8" set of rims that have been flipped but there on nurseys truck so I cant show you any photos of what they look like flipped other than some pics on trucks

Yeah, from your pic I worked same as you said, considering the dish in the centres, once they were flipped rims would end up as all offset. Would look cool but not quite what I'm after. Back to TM watching. Cheers v. much for your help.

Do you need to flip them to get the off set required.
Can you just get the centers moved in as far as the lip....
I have done that with some ROH rims for my Prado...
Has 75mm backspacing using 8 inch rims...

Currently on toyota -20 offset, 8 in rims, measures 85mm backspacing. Other tyres are 12.5 BFGs on the same rims and they fill out to the edge of the flares but the simex are 10.5 and sit up a lot straighter. See pic, getting the wheels sitting out another 40 mm would be good. So 8in rims I can either flip or shift to set at 40 to 50 BS is what I'm looking at. Don't want to go 10 in rims, cant justify beadlocks to keep tyres on them( Also I played the "these tyres are the last thing I'll need to buy for ages dear" card already, so not rushing on the wheels   )

yup, I agree

dont measure the full width as it will always be on average 1" wider than the actual rim. Rims are measured where the bead sits.

these seem to be factory nissan safari wheels which leads me to my next question..........

'do the centre fit over your hubs ok as I've seen and heard some nissan stuff not fitting' :?:

as a plus, the beads on these gold safari wheels are awesome for holding onto tyres, hard to blow up and hard to break the bead on a tyre machine, so off road would be better for keeping tyres beaded properly
