Anyway enough of the Winch Challenge and on to the build.
Some stuff my bros wrote about the truck. Havent edited it in anyway so some of it may not make sense.
Yeah i'm having a tomcat front end and a tray back rear style but its really hard to get to look right i'm having trouble getting the seat steering wheel and pedals all in the right place and comfortable with the limited space i now have wings are 5 inches lower than before and the roof is now 7 to 9 inches lower i'm trying to get the seating position as close to car like as possible but with the better view.
I'm now running 285/75/16 insa turbo's but am saving for ashcroft cv's and shafts my thinking is that by giving my extra grip but smaller tyres it should be about the same stress as my 37" mudzillas, the insa's stand about 34" tall but it also means I can drop an inch on my suspension and with the tyre height loss of 1.5 inches in means my whole truck will stand 12 inches shorter which is good for the winch challenges and trials
My tomcat buggy i'm building is my old 90 I had on the road the first picture with the green bonnet is before I lowered the wings some more, the engine is just clearing the bonnet by 4mm in that picture but I managed to get hold of a bonnet with a bulge in it and it lined up perfectly with the engine, the wings and bonnet are so low now i've got to chop abit out of the front lip of the bonnet to clear my winch when fitted. I've moved my radiator back 6 inches and the winch tray back as wellwhich ment i've had to cut the front of the chassis off as it stuck out further than my winch tray lol, the rear has now been shorten so the wheels stick out further than the rear chassis now, i've got 3 winch mounts in place, those pictures were taken a few months ago i'm abit further on with it now like the floor is started and the sides are done,
And because the whole truck looks lower the tyres don't look out of place on there they look right plus i'm dropping the suspension an inch which helps so they don't look that bad but my thinking is I want to build a truck thats very capable but does break to often and the bigger the tyres the bigger the strain.
Yeah but i fucked my 90 last year i took it apart to rebuild it and even brought all the parts to put it right again then when it was just a chassis I decided to build a buggy but by using my 90 chassis I'm hoping to keep it road legal and yeah I would of liked to keep my 90 and have a buggy but my 90 was already modified past returning it to standard. Thought about 100" it road legal issues stopped me plus my 90 did very well as it was and i keep decking out on my chassis so 10more inches wouldn't have helped me off road plus tyre size i'm using on 100 doesn't look right. And with my low roof and 90 inch wheel base it does look cool now.

Obviously its not finished yet but its coming along well. Its got ARBs front and rear and he is buying Ashcrofts CVs and halfshafts this weekend which should make it alot harder to break. He's got 3 Warn 8274 Winches, 2 of which have the Gigglepin upgrade. He's playing with the idea of fitting a 6.3L GMC engine as he's found one for sale and they push out 350bhp but may kill the weight.

In the middle of the site is basically a hugh valley that is real steep but the photos dont really show it.
In some comps you have to wear a helmet but thats because some parts of the course the truck is litrally only hanging on by the winch cable so if this goes your going to roll big time. The long side of the valley is 60-80m long so if you roll its a long way to the bottom. I done it, not fun

Nice photos. I had a 1995 90 series when i lived in South Africa with the factory fitted Vanus 2.8 BMW engine and I tricked it out with MT tyres, lift kits, free flow exhaust, sealed some engine plugs and it was awesome.
It had loads of grunt and only died once cuase three days into pure bush i must have got a load of dust power intot the fuel tank and the filter blocked up. By pasted this and off it went for the balance of the three days through rivers, hills and rock climbs.
Bowler type build for me next but with the cheaper LS2 V8 to power it.

Theres a few setup ideas in those pics I like; the winch rope out of roof idea for those interesting angles (I suppose it would only need to be a little one); the net on bonnet for winch rope for speedy recoverys; and Landrover exo-skeletons with no impeding side bars.
