When a engine misses it is basically not burning a fuel air mixture when it is supposed to, this can be due to missing fuel, missing air, missing spark or the gasses cannot get out of the engine.
I would start by revving it at night with the bonnet open and getting someone to look at the spark plug leads and see if you see any "sparks"
Check the actual spark plugs to make sure they are in good condition.
Start pulling off the spark plug leads one at a time while it's missing to see if it's all the cylinders or just one.
Make sure the exhaust isn't crushed anywhere (restricting air flow)
Make sure the air filter is clean.
