Mods - best bang for buck

Ok, I bought a 92 terrano and with the help of this forum set about getting it running well and improving performance.
So far I have
1) removed all smog gear and cleaned out the inlet manifold.
2) installed a Rage big bore exhaust.
3) installed a water-air intercooler.
4) installed water injection.
5) 18lb boost
6) added more fuel.
And a few other more I incidental and non performance mods such as trans cooler etc.
I found it interesting to note though that the best (bang for buck) result was obtained in the weekend by simply setting a valve clearances. Ok granted it's probably only had such a profound effect because a) the engine has done 200k and they were way out and b) all the mods.
But the reason for this post is to remind people to do the simple stuff too.
