I've got to ask coz its been bugging me, and i'm not even sure why I'm asking coz I am probably not even attending, but anyway
Is anybody on here helping out in any way with this event
The reason I ask, is to find out if there is actually going to be 4wding this time around or is it going to be like the last one where I could of taken Dace's Mini along with ease and then have to head off to a un-disclosed location afterwards for actual 4wding
Is anybody on the down low with this trip info

I wont post the email I got as its not mine to do so, but from the info in there, there will be something to suit every one "from basic to very challenging" "you can chicken out"
Prerequisites:
Vehicles being used on the Safari must hold a current WOF and Registration, or for modified purpose built Off Roaders meet an inspection prior to entry
Low gear ratio
Off Road Tyres
Fire Extinguisher
Recovery Strop
First Aid Pack
PRS Radio
Complete and sign an indemnity form
I'm just trying to work out if I'll have enough brownie points in the bank for a roadie to come down. Its pretty cheap and should be a good social event with 2 nights accomidation included.

this from the organiser:
Good questions, and yes the event will be below the mountain itself. Where we're going there are no gravel roads but some well worn tracks and no tracks at all, river crossing, hill assents and descents, some narrow bush drives, sand (lots), one part is very bumpy with a sea of rocks and bog holes, in saying that there flat to no so flat drives to get you to each point as you would expect, and each task should be able to be tackled by a 4WD fitted with off road tyres. However there are bog holes along the way that will definitely test even the modified off roader if anyone's game.

A guy from our club has just got off the phone from him and has been told it has been cancelled due to unforseen circumstances.

just in my email.....
Hi all,
I can confirm that with deep regret that the Safari has been cancelled due to the possibility of you getting injured on Defence Land. Although permission was gained to run this event other people have stepped in and put a halt to it. Apologies for mucking you all around

Shit couldn't agree more. Was really keen to do that run. Obviously there is NO POSSIBILITY over getting hurt on DOC LAND is there as they are happy for us to walk on it.
How dumb am I?, Totally forgot you can only get hurt if you are driving

Not sure that you've got the whole story.
I thought there was another event being run at the same time. So there was an issue with paths being crossed with motorbikes. That might hurt!
I'm off down there this weekend for 2 days of 4 wheeling.
Cheers
Jungle

i believe there was going to be a clash of paths between the 4x4s and the 2x1s.....

amoung other things probably not a good look to have a bunch or 4x4s charge down a bunch of motorcylists......
