Wgtn 2LT T-Diesel cheap replacement needed

Post by Terry »

Hi folks,

just had a call from a mate who bought a 1993 hilux-surf a few weeks back on TM, has dropped a valve (he thinks) on Ngauranga hill - very clattery but still runs, just v. v. rough. He knows nothing about them, engine is a 2LT-2446 turbo diesel. Does this sound like a common fault? and does anyone have a really cheap old one lying around anywhere?

cheers, Terry

sounds like a 2lte (the 2lt is the earlier design), might be worth ringing a diesel mechanic ... the diesel doctor in petone is very good.

if its stuffed might be worth looking for a 1kzte to drop in ....

cheers Jerry, an update - he's had a mechanic look at it, and the motor is definitely stuffed. Moneys tight so replacement has to be cheap - so no 3l turbos :( - but hoping someone might have an old 2.4 left over from a repower....
