well now that Tim my oldest boy has his FAL as well we have been fighting over who gets the SKS when we go goat hunting, so yesterday I decided to end the argument and treated myself to a second hand .270 Savage Model 110J for deer and those long range epic sniper shots on goats ( the SKS is a great bush gun but I wouldn't take a shot at anything out much past 90 meters)
first thing before I take it out anywhere is to strip and redo the stock as the clear coats peeling in places, wont take much to bring her back to it's former glory.
time to start getting into reloads though, the price of .270 ammo is a wee bit more expensive than 7.62x39
