as far as petrol engines go there fine in water, the dizzy is right at the back up on the inlet manifold so there well up and away from the water, most of them have HEI dizzys these days and they crank out big voltages to keep the plugs firing, all my chevys have been in plenty of flooded rivers and never given me a problem, holly carbs are easy to snorkle. Would be a bit dubious about believing the $50k+ worked motor its still got old cast iron heads on it so I dunno what he reckon hes spent all that on paticularly when you can go and buy a late model alloy LS1 injected chev for around $5k, looks ok in the photos but despite the chevy in it its still a harsh old cart sprung truck :D

I think the first one you looked at, is far too over-priced, theres far better trucks out there for less money

dont get me wrong its probably a good engine in it but often the term "worked" means they cooked it and threw a set of secondhand heads on it to replace the cracked ones or it's a bit worn out and fumey and had a set of rings and bearings thrown in it. There old engines, so long as its got reasonable hot oil pressure and compression you'd be fine, worthwhile getting the casting number off the back of the block to check its a 350 and not a low spec 305 smog engine or something like that

that one with the 350 in it smells off dulux recondition and a lot of bullshit too me.
just my personal opinion. besides the 50 grand engine, whats it got going for it. it sounds pretty standard. looks nice, see the paint never been off road so as he said never needed lockers. the money in 4wds is lockers, suspension. modifications. beadlock etc. all things it dosnt have just a supposed kick ass engine that i bet he cant verify. as saddam said one of the first things your going to do in a kickass v8 build is dump the heads. those are not alloy. carburation isnt the best off road. propably still worth 10 grand tho but if you want too go offroad theres a lot more suitable for ten grand
