The heater hose on my 3.5l 1995 popped after the engine had been idling for a few minutes...does that seem normal, or is there a more sinister issue lurking...
Secondly, how do you get to the bottom hose connection (where ever it actually goes). I have had a dig around but my fat hands can't get to the end? Can't see it with a mirror and a torch either...
Any advice much appreciated...

Its a barstard of a thing. Try taking the plastic top cover off, if that doesn't work you may have to take the inlet manifold off. What you are probably seeing/feeling is the heater hose for the rear heater, they are all Tee'ed into each other there.

It turned out not to bad to pull the hoses out...still to replace once I find replacements...
Couple of things should someone else stumble across this with a similar problem.
Take bonnet off...gives necessary access.
Find a way to gain suitable working platform...I found some left-over decking and joists perfect to construct temporary deck to sit and work from...no good trying to lean over balancing on a stool.
Remove plastic cover over intake manifold, just helps gaining accesses.
Release accelerator cable from firewall, and fold out of way.
Have a good set of box (1/4 inch drive for access) and ratchet ring (10mm) spanner. Normal ring spanner will do...just expect to spend some finger numbing time working mm by mm....
You will need to remove the most accessible hose & T section to get to the others...
For rest pretty much plain sailing...
