Throw up a photo of it...
Depending which one it is it could be too small for the mighty Prado....

Looks like they were fitted as factory options to the Prado.. And possibly the 80 series.
May have to find a manual online with winch info...
I have some manuals on my other pc which I will have a look at later in the week......

Yes the cable goes on on the top which is the opposite to most winches.

Winch should be plenty strong enough, they a pretty good and well made unit. Like all AISIN stuff, it is nicely made. They run ATF in their winch gearboxes.

PM me your email and I will send you a section of the 80 series manual (pdf) which covers the electric winch and I will also try and pull out the electrical wiring diagram section for it also.....

What ever you do don't flick the winch from in to out, or vise versa, without letting the motor stop fully, otherwise you will break the input shaft. Ask me how I know? Good news is any parts required are available from Toyota. Based on the free spool lever this is a later model one.

Check your wiring again...
I had a bad earth on my Warn....
The solenoids used the frame as an earth.... Newer ones have their own earth...

Sorry cant be of any more help......

hi dude,

i had the same problem when i was stuck the other day, and have since found the drum side was bent outwards and was jamming under load to the side of the motor housing, have yet to fit back together to test. just food for thought.

It will be ok, providing you use decent sized cables.

Thought you may find this useful, I am rebuilding my Aisin winch right now.
http://forum.ih8mud.com/80-series-tech/ ... build.html

Also, here is a link to download the Aisin winch manual from Toyota, full breakdown and build details/specs. https://dl.dropbox.com/u/1472663/Files/ ... _winch.pdf

And here is my write-up on getting the Aisin winch to work with a standard Warn style controller, for those of us who got the winch with no factory remote. http://forum.ih8mud.com/80-series-tech/ ... oller.html
