Cleaning mud out of radiator fins

Post by octanepwr »

Hi guys

My truck is tending to run a bit hot on the open road and I think it is due to all the mud inbetween the radiator fins. Hosing it out doesnt work as it is pretty much burnt on. I have tried mag wheel cleaner before washing it and that helped a little bit. I plan to remove it this weekend and try clean it properly.
What is the best method to get the mud out of it?

Thanks

Had my radiator out last night and found it full og seeds, thistles and mud.
Soaked it in an old bath over night and then hosed it out this morning and then blew it out with compressed air.
Bolted it back in :)

I use a kiddies paddling pool, the ones shaped like a clam shell. Lucky me, I have several radiators and run them on a rotational basis i.e, one is soaking at all times. I find that if you pick it up out of the water and drop it in again once per day and change the water regularly, it does a awesome job.
Works for me.

Cheers,
I keep looking for the loose nut behind the wheel, but I can't find it!!

this stuff is the best, been using this method to clean m/bikes, mountain bikes, buggys etc and brings it to a nice shine after  just spray a bit of water on first then spray the dynamo
