What is this on top of Thermostat.

Just want to know what the two items that are coming out of the thermostat, what are the wire's for?

One will be temp sender to dash gauge, and the other may be for the EGR system that we have disabled and removed.

Neither of them are for the temp gauge (mine have been broken for a few years now) I suspect that they are tied up to the EGR

they stop the glow plugs working when the engines warm.

It could be for aircon. My 4D56 has a sensor in the same place to shut down the aircon if the coolant temp gets too high.

mines just a couple of allen key bolts....

One is for your glow plug system the other is a water temp switch for the auto trans , it stops them from going into top gear untill there upto temp and makes them hold gears longer ,
