COSTA PLENTY 4X4 CLUB are hosting their 4th Annual Club Tuff Truck Challenge over the Queen’s Birthday long weekend (1 – 4th June) this year. Open to the first 10 teams registered AND paid.
Friday 1st June - Costa Plenty 4x4 Park gates open for camping at 1.00pm.
- Scrutineering of competition vehicles upon arrival (after you’ve set up camp).
- Mix ‘n’ mingle
Saturday 2nd June - scrutineering continues 7.00am – 8.30am
- 8.30am – 9.00am driver’s brief
- 9.30am first hazard issued
- 10.00pm last hazard for the night issued
Sunday 3rd June - 7.30am first hazard issued
- 1.00pm last hazard issued
- 4.00pm Makuri Sports Club bar opens
- 6.00pm Dinner
- 8.00pm Prize giving
Monday 4th - Free to drive Costa Plenty 4x4 Park
TEAM REQUIREMENTS
This event is open to CLUB trucks ONLY, and teams must meet the following criteria:
A minimum of 3 vehicles and a maximum of 4.
Trucks must have original factory ‘A’ pillars, factory windscreen and factory doors, although half doors are acceptable.
Trucks must have a roof over at least the driver & passenger. It is recommended that trucks also have a roll cage, but not compulsory.
There is a maximum tyre size of 35”. The tyre size will be taken from the manufacturer’s size embossed on the tyre sidewall.
Each team must have a minimum of 1 ground anchor (compulsory).
Helmets are NOT compulsory this year however, you are welcome to wear one if you wish.
Trucks do not need to have a registration or WOF, but will need to pass event scrutineering.
Normal club safety requirements apply ie. Fire extinguisher, snatch straps, winch extension straps/ropes, tree protector, winch blanket, properly mounted front & rear recovery hooks, PRS radio, seatbelts and first aid kit.
EVENT DETAILS
Hazards not completed on Saturday can be completed on Sunday.
There are ample camping sites available at Costa Plenty.
There will be power available at the ‘secretaries’ hut (but not overnight) for charging of cell phones, battery chargers, lights etc.
There will be a welder on site that will be available to competitors for vehicle repairs.
There will be a wash-down pump on site for cleaning of radiators and engines.
Home-made hot soups will be available continuously throughout the event free of charge for competitors along with free tea, coffee, sugar and milo.
Entry fee (per truck) is $120 (covers both driver AND navi).
Entry fee includes a meal ticket at prize giving on the Sunday evening for all drivers and navi’s competing. For support crews etc, a meal ticket will be $20 per head. Intended numbers for meal will be required upon registration please.
Competitors are welcome to have a free drive around of Costa Plenty 4x4 Park on the Monday before breaking camp and heading home.
All mud must be returned to Costa Plenty 4x4 Park because Laurie & Sue purchased 500 acres and this acreage is slowly being reduced.
