Help with dead washer please.

My windscreen washer stopped working recently, no problem I thought.

Must be the pump I thought, so bought a brand new one, but still nothing.

It's getting power to the plug.

When the pump is unplugged, the wipers automatically wipe a couple times, as they do when you spray window. However as soon as you plug the pump back in, they do nothing when you pull the lever.

Could anybody shed some light on the subject for me please.

P.S it's a bj74 cruiser.

I'd be checking the contacts in the wiper/washer switch. Also confirm you have power at the switch
