Hi guy just wondered if any body has had this problem fitted a new toyota head surf runs real good on idle but the a soon as you put the revs on start s knocking like it is over fueling .......things i have tried map sensor egr valve and check injectors al ok thanks for ya time

Did you use the correct thickness head gasket???
Piston might be protruding too much...
Is the timing correct....i.e the belt / cam / pump in the correct position.

That's the trouble with you Kerbside mechanics, try and do jobs that should be left to the professionals and then expect the ones that have done the hard yards to bale you out.

Hi all
, I'm surprised I didn't get flamed from the troops regarding my answer to this query
. Let me explain and also keep everyone up to date on the queried problem. One of my fellow mechanics at work bought said Surf as a project with damaged head removed, he got new exchange rebuilt Toyota head and sundry parts from Miles Toyota and assembled, the motor ran fine until he gave it any throttle and then it ran rough, after checking things over with no results he jumped on Google and was directed to ORE, hence his question. I read the question to start with and didn't think anything of it until the next day at work when someone was talking about the trouble Brad was having with his Surf, I then put two and two together and thought I will get him. Now ----- he runs a small Mechanical business as a side line that we have named Kerbside, hence my reference to Kerbside mechanics, and the reference at the end of my post to GO FIX YA BIKE, refers to the fact that he has been using his 1000cc Honda Sports Bike as transport and that locked up the back wheel and came to a shuddering stop while riding to work ----- so now no transport. Now for the ANSWER to the question and apparently he is not the first to get it wrong
it is possible with out stretching the pipes to get #3 and #4 injection pipes in the wrong order and it will run with enough diesel at low load and it is only when you up the load that it requires more, simple mistake really but one that caught him out, and one we won't let him forget.

Thought it was rather harsh, but also thought maybe there was more going on than I could see....
I have had a workmate mix up the injector pipes. Seems only takes a lil persuasion to get them wrong. I was surprised they even run like that.

PS, is the name of the business actually 'kerbside'? or that just a nickname for it?

Hi Slide, yeah I inherited my sense of humour from my late mother ( bless her ), Kerbside is a nickname started by me at work but has kind of stuck now, he uses it himself but not a registered company name.
