clutch issue

Post by mud_slinger »

on my way to the river i was on the motorway cruising in 5th gear, put my foot down to pass and clutch started to slip so i dropped down to 4th gear that was all good, then 4th started to slip so hooked 3rd and couple more kms lost drive completely nothing in any gear. even 4low wont give me drive. now the weird part is there is absolutely no clutch smell and the clutch is less than 500kms from new. so i have no drive at all and no clutch smell.

any ideas on wtf is going on?

Cable or hydraulic? Could be seized slave cylinder or cable. Nip underneath and see if the clutch arm is free. If it is free then it could be that the bolts holding the clutch cover plate have come loose. I'd hope its option 1 or you'll be taking the box out again, and thats never a pleasure, Cheers Andy.

By the sounds of it you'll have little choice but to pull the gearbox.
Sometimes sticks/mud/crap get stuck behind the fingers on the pressure plate causing this type of fault as the pressure plate is no longer doing it's job....or as above the rivets have given out, fingers have bent or similar, but being a 4WD used off road i'll go for crap stuck in it
