Hi there guys ,looking at buying a second hand 1999 suzuki jimny the new shape. What things do i need to look for when test driving, general things or common problems with them. Anyone know what fuel economy is like on open road/motorway.
Cheers
Things to look for when buying a Suzuki?
Re: Things to look for when buying a Suzuki?
Being a 1999 it will have a G13BB motor, they have issues with the crank angle sensor, so take it for a nice long test drive to see if theres anything wrong with that. Other than that theres not too much to worry about, just make sure you have a really good look at it, checking for signs of off-road abuse, oil leaks, rust ect.

Rural delivery man up here had one (1999) did 205,000km before a logging truck ran over it and ended up a write off, we brought it straigthened it out and ran it for 2 years offroad before replacing with a V6 Commie, the G13BB motor was put it into my buggy (also 1999, first registered 2000) after I drowned my one, then we ran that for a further two years and now it is in a 413 being used on the road. So yep motor is good. People that I know who owned them say because of the length on road they can be a bit choppy to ride in, would they change it because of the ride quality No.
The standard placment for the air intake is not great if used offroad in water like most newer vehicles. Nationally my buggy, we did 1 and 1/2 seasons before we put hilux diffs under it. I was breaking a diff per rally and when you could get them second hand C&P were $800 each. 3 years ago CV's had to come from Japan with an axle so were $600 each. We actually ended up getting 413 CV's and about 1/2 an hour in the lathe and they fitted.
