Re-VIN-ing and certifying mods

So here is the situation;

Wagon is on dead plates (DLWxxx) - needs full VIN inspection to be registered.

Has a Cert Plate for the mods but it lists the original 1980 plate (JPxxxx) on the cert plate.

So - do I need to get everything re-certed prior to getting it to VTNZ for the VIN inspection?

Have not yet found anything conclusive on the LTNZ website, or in the inspection criteria.

Cheers.

As I understand it you need to go through a re-registration check (not another cert). Check out NZTA Factsheet #9

http://www.nzta.govt.nz/resources/facts ... hicle.html

AA quoted me $400 for a reregistration check plus $620 for 6 months rego.

If there are any other mods you have planned for the truck then now would be the best time - then you go for a cert (I'm guessing cost at $600???) and the $620 for 6 months rego.

Let me know how you get on cause I'm just about to go through this also.

Good spotting on the factsheet... confirms what I thought.

I will see if I can get into town and get a price. As far as I can tell, in Blenheim only VTNZ does VIN inspections.

Through work I get a discount on WOF with VTNZ - so that might work for this too. Hope so...

I'd call them first as it seams only a limited number of the branches do the re-registeration checks.

Just in the process of completing getting a V8 commy back in the system as the plates were dead :roll: . It had been certed for a 5speed, 8" mags, suspenion and body kit and I paid $300 and they basicly just gave it a hard as warrent check. They checked the mods matched what it said on the cert plate and that was that. One small job to do which has been done and just need to take it back for recheck. :) Small test drive today before taking it back and now no second gear :roll:
