Pitman Drop on TJ - Do I need to?

Post by Jeeper »

Im very green to 4x4ing and Ive only owned my 4wd for a week now so if theres a thread allready covering this - link please.

Ive just sourced a new Steering box off a low K's match on Tardme for my 97 TJ that has a 3" lift and am wondering if I should use a pitman with a bit more drop ( possibly off an XJ). The box was pissing fluid from the Pitman seal and Im wondering if the angles are too acute putting lateral pressure on the arm/seal? Dont want to have to try and find another steering box in the near future.

Im wondering if anyone else has done this and if they had any further complications due to changing the angles.

On a similar note: Wouldnt mind a bash plate for the steering box. They all seem reasonably priced out of the states but obviously left hook... NZ/AU source?

Not needed at 3 inch lift. It will introduce bump steer.

Try http://www.blackjackwelding.com.au/our- ... egory_id=3

I am using this.
