if not there is heaps of leaf sprung sammys on tardme at the mo and the auctions havn't been hitting the high numbers lately, tidy ones going for around 3.5 - 5 grand
That white 1996 is pretty average condition so Id guess it wouldnt go for anything over 5..Im always keeping an eye on trade me, but its the ones that arent for sale yet which are gold
Dunno who told you the coilies were better but they are wrong. Aftermarket bits are practically non-existant whereas you can get pretty much anything for a leafy.
Mate is selling a jimny 1999 0r 2000 model i think. Standard as apart from a snorkel. Think he wants $4000 let me know if your interested and i will put you in touch with him, truck is in dunedin. Cheers
i have not owned or wheeled a coily so its just my opinion but ive been told a lot of the suspension is very weak, certain bits a very prone to braking when given a hard time. if you want a good coiled sammy your better off to get a leaf sprung one and coil it yourself. and yea parts for them are sooooo much harder to get. prices are pretty variable, sometimes you can pick up bargains, trademe is not usually the place. a widetrack sammy would be more ideal than a 413 and not usually in as rough as condition. A tidy W/T is worth about 4k
yea ive got a 1994 widetrack sammy, also have a build thread running at the moment. Compared to a jimny i would say the leaf sammys can take a bit more of a poounding, having solid axle front and rear is def a bonus, and and the fact there are so many bolt on aftermarket bits around make them pretty awesome, plus they look cool as heck. downside compared to a jimny is that they have a much more "agricultural" feel. more hard and bouncy on the road, but this is compensated by offroad ability, depends what your using it for. my samurai is my daily driver tho and i love it. The ability to cut traffic using the footpath is awesome
I have a coily, 50mm body lift, 30in KL71 kumos, rear air locker an 5000lb winch. Its great and goes really well but if I starting again It would be with a leafy or jimny. Coilys were only made for 2 years and were never released in the states so there aren't many after market parts for them.
I've imported a few bits for suzuki's and recovery gear etc. the flairs and winch bar are from Malaysia. The owner of that Suzuki on the TM auction above would of bought it from me. I've seen a few around, I've seen more leafy's though.
the problem with coilys is just finding parts for a reasonable price, because the gearboxes and transfer cases are all unique you cannot interchange with coilys. That bar in the auction isnt one of yours i dont think comcom, it has an extra pipe above the plate and the bends in the top corners aren't stretched.
I couldn't tell from the photos weather the corners on the Bar are squashed or not, and mine one has the bar above the plate if you look closely. Gearboxes are interchangeable right up from sj413 to SJ80, mine has run all three. It also has a SJ410 transfer case, bolts right up to the original mounts. The distances between all the flanges is different but using a mixture of SJ80 and SJ413 driveshafts you can overcome this without any problems.
But finding parts for a coily is still a problem right? Is there much difference on road and off road between the coily and leafy? Ive heard lifting a coily can be a bit difficult to do right
