3.9 motor into stage 1

I have bought a disco 1, 3.9 motor which i am going to transplant into my stage 1. the motor i have bought has the serpentine belt, but it did not come with an air con compressor. i don't need air con as stage 1's have really effective cabin air flow as it is (tisk)
has anybody run one of these with no air con compressor- it looks to me like i need it for the tensioner to work?
or
has anybody got a compressor in the corner of their shed i could have for the right price?

get a shorter serp belt?, or mount an idler where the compressor was

The V8s would come without Aircon in the UK. (it would be an option)
I'll see if the Disco workship manual shows the layout at all.

I'd say you just need to find the part number for the belt for the models without Air con. Looking at the picture for models with Air con, the tensioner looks the same, it's in the same position, just rotated about 90 degrees

ERR4461 is the listed part number for non air cond serpentine belt.

I'd be looking at getting a air con pump and running it as an air compressor.
