I'll probably be in the crowd this year I think, the event gets pegged out in such a way to make trucks fall over if they try and keep within the confines of the pegs, I realise that's what the crowds love to see and keeps them coming back, but a bit annoying for competitors (and costly if you don't have an EXO).
As the organisers tell us it is a fundraising event after all so it doesn't matter if you don't do well or win, you can always stop, reverse and cost yourself the 100points.
Yes and on the same hand I guess it doesn't matter if I don't compete either as long as I turn up, make a donation, and spectate :P

I hear ya, The last two years it has been getting pegged harder and harder and making it very tough on club style trucks.

do they use a club or something to set and peg the course or do they do it themselves?

I heard the guy who pegs it is an ex NZ trials competitor, and its getting pegged more and more like trails instead of a mudplug.

I spent more time outside the coarse than in it lol, it was just too tight for my 40 with out fiddles. Dont get me wrong I love a good challenge but I didnt finish the afternoon session because i wasnt having fun any more.

I'd love to do Sheffield again but the way it's been laid out the last few times, it's not worth it in the 80

I couldn't keep within the course either (without falling over X2  ), and the damage to some club type trucks I saw would've been killer for their owners :o
Might be buggy's domain in the future......don't think there's too many down here.

they should just make it back to how it used to be, fun and a nice challenging mud plug not a truck breaker.

maybe they could have it for club trucks 1 year and trials trucks the next, swopping each year .... are spectators allowed?

grabaseat fares from welly are only $69 each way .... anyone else keen to go down and have a look, or fill up a truck and drive down?

I hate to say it but if you do not want to do a stage
because it looks dangerous don`t do it.
peer pressure from the 3000 odd people is what makes your trucks get damaged,
its your choice.
yes the stages have got harder over the years, and the crowd loves roll overs, i know ,done it there myself.
If this is a concern Ring Nev and discuss as a group
he may just let you be involved in the set up of the
stages , my 2c

Over the years I've competed 3 or 4 times. Missed out last year. This year will be the first time spectating in the true sense of the word.
But I agree with some on here Bob. It has got tighter recently. Without fiddle brakes, I think it makes some stages impossible for street driven trucks. Yes they have two different courses. One for, "open class" and one for, "club class" which cancels out your idea Jerry. Even still. I think they should loose the rule were you get a, "d.n.f" if you have to reverse.
Just my opinion.

I'll still look forward to watching this year.
