td27 ????

Post by slide »

So I found this image of what appears to be a td27 (even has 'td27' on tappet cover).
But I noticed the intake manifold is way different to any I've seen before. Not sure if pipe across tappet cover is original, seems good quality mounts off heatshield rubber vibration mount etc.
And the oil filler is centred in tappet cover, all others seem to be offset closer to intake side. Appears to be alloy cover with raised lettering to (possibly just a sticker tho?)
Going by the tempsender plug it'd be late (94-) model, also got plastic radiator which confirms late-modelness.
I'm tripping balls here

Anyone got any idea what its from??

Looks like it's non turbo and the dip stick is in a different but more accessible place too?

The london taxi images that I seen had the pan air filter like the non-turbo navaras. Those images do look like it tho, wonder if someone has cut and changed the forward facing manifold to be a cross over type :?:
Also does look to be in a navara or similar (terreno, hardbody etc), but that could explain it if it has been modified intake

Atlas Is very similar looking to the caravan engines, with the front (and many rear) facing intakes. I havn't seen any in forklifts, so don't know what they'd look like but good point :)

Ah, worthy of investigation. (not that I need to know, I'm not buying an austin  , just interesting to find more td27 history/applications/differences)

Yea good point. make it easier to check oil level. not that td27's seem to use it between changes.... 8)

Ah Ha :!: I think I may of figured it (partly) out.
It looks very similar to the BD25 engine.
Which seems to be an overseas engine only, and so hard to find any info on. Not even mentioned on wikipedias list of nissans engines... :?:

Manifold is different (bolted flange part on top, and smaller plenum).
Hard to tell as yet, but it may be a variant of the td27 (like the qd32, which is very similar yet a different series name)

Hmm, interesting.

Im thinking one of these on my qd32 would be a good thing. Direct injection, big power compared to indirect injection
