Try googling rover v8 engine numbers, there are heaps of web sites with them on, that's how I found mine.

Don't know about the other numbers but the cr is compression ratio. 8.13:1 was low compression version usually fitted to military rovers designed to run on low grade fuel. 9.25:1 is the civvy spec fitted to early range rovers etc. I'm led to believe that it's the pistons that determine the cr and not the block but don't quote me!

What exactly is it you need to know?

1st one looks like its out of a stage 1 V8 Land Rover from 1982 with 8.13:1 compression ration.

2nd one is an oldie out of a P6 3500S manual car from around 1967-1976 with 10.5:1 compression ratio.
