Fraser's 97 Wrangler

Post by phraza »

Hi all,

Thought i'd start a thread about the mods i'm doing to the Jeep. They aren't going to be hardcore, just minor mods when I have the money etc. Thought i'd keep it in one place. Still my daily driver into the city each day.

This is when i first got it:
5 speed manual
4" black diamond lift
33x12.5x15 Goodyear Wrangler MTRs
15" standard Cherokee mags
Front sway bar disconnects
Slip yoke eliminator
Front bull bars
Front spot lights
GME UHF radio
Half doors (matching colour)
Front tow hooks
Modified front and rear bumpers (stripped back of all plastics)
Removable tow-bar/tow-hook
Carbon fibre air intake

Image

Image

I didn't do much once i got it as it had lots of goodies on it but i took off the light bar on the roof as i couldn't get in to my work carpark. I will keep this thread updated on the mods that i have done, and try and photograph it as I go

Cheers, any questions let me know!

Installed some spot light mounts at the base of the windscreen last Feb, not using those spotlights as they are big and ugly, need to get some smaller ones

Have a look at
http://www.jeep4x4center.com/jeep-tires/tire-gear-ratio-chart.htm

Im looking at 33's (cant play with the big boys on 32's)
but with a final drive of 3.73 im just out side the recommended...

Regearing is on my list, thinking about going to 4.56 and switch to 33s (possibly 35s much later in future).

Speaking of which, these are 15x8 rims I am assuming. I have been struggling to find 16x8 locally. Oh well, one more thing to import. If its not commercially sensitive, how much did the rims set you back?

I know about Greg, got a couple of items from him in the past. He has no 16 inch rims though.

Yup mine does the same, on 33s with standard gearing, am getting between 15 and 16 ltrs /100km on average, around 17 - 18 if the foot gets a bit heavy
Yea, though I drive through the valley of death (and it's mudbogs), I shall fear no trail;for tho art modified is my rig, and thy lift kit and lockers they comfort me. Amen

re the gearing talk chaps.... HUGE difference between Auto and Manual boxes too. Wifes on 33s and auto was an utter pig off the mark, sluggish as hell. Mine with manual on 33's was a bit better than average. Both had stock R&P. Id have changed to 4.1s on the Auto (if we'd have kept it) and left the Manual alone (which i did).
