FS '88 Hilux "rat" Auckland (NOT 4wd... at all! lol)

Post by Del Fuego »

Ok, probably not really the right thing for anyone here but I figured it was worth a shot and there isn't any "other/non 4x4 for sale" section...

I have had this old girl for a while now and am pondering selling... mainly to fund something a little more comfortable... aka if someone wants her for the right price/trade for something interesting I will consider it.

You likely know what she looks like but pics below... anyway '88 Hilux, '84 shape... 2.4 diesel, 5spd manual column shift, runs great, brand new wof/reg/ruc etc... very low(bumpy lol) on reset leaves and blocks at the back and wound down and re-indexed torsions up front. drives great, has plenty of the usual rattles, squeaks and whatnot as you would expect from an old, low diesel lol... usual bumps and bruises that you would expect

So, what's it worth? What do you have to swap? I'm thinking biggish sedan/coupe that will tow easy enough and looks interesting... prefer diesel but will consider other stuff... toyota crown/230 merc(early 80's shape, or perhaps older merc)/5 series bmw/i dunno... fun stuff that goes well/isn't too modern/is legal/tidy/has towbar etc.

Used to look like this:

Now more like this:

Fake Edit:

have decided I need a little luxury in my life so a more serious eoi... Keen as #### for a tidy merc 230 (early '80s), or the model before that (forget what they are called now but around '78ish iirc)

or some cash would work too... somewhere near $3kish for yous fullas?

Yeah... I stripped it all back for paint then masked the bits I wanted rusty and left the auckland rain to do it's thing... interesting thing is it doesn't seem to be getting "worse" ie no pitting or anything... figured I'd be able to see the engine through the bonnet after a couple years of ownership (even have a spare just in case lol)
