Whats the best of splicing a winch rope... so far I have found this:

Check this page http://www.4wdbits.co.nz/ProductDetails.aspx?productID=960 there is a link to 'end splice' and 'eye splice' instructions.

Don't get to concerned about the lengths, that will come with practice.

And instead of a 'fid' tape a peice of coat hanger wire shaped like a U (total length about 150mm) onto the end of the rope, the curve of the U will easily push up through the centre of the rope.

Thanks for that will give the end to end one a go next week. Will have toeing them and leave a copy in truck too.
