Lockrite wornout?

Post by GotFlex »

hey guys
i have a Richmond lockright locker used in the rear of a 4.8 hilux diff,
recently ive heard it make some funny noises and now its not as clunky on the road as it used to be for example going around intersection under power you knew it had a locker but now it feels almost nicer and less harsh.
do the pins and springs wear out? its still working just seems to not be as brutal as much as it used to? any help appreciated

Hi

I would check the oil and maybe take the back off the diff and check the pins and springs.

I had a BJ73 and the lockright in the back did 50,000 km when I sold it and still going good.

Maybe you have some other issue here. Is the pinion bearing ok ? had you had water through the diff recently?
