well i got a wof and rego on my ute

finished the deck and am going to drive it all the way from here to taupo and back for its first trip....with the bikes on the back to go for a ride

big trail ride off the napier/taupo road which should be fun

see if theres anything that needs attention by the time i get back from there tomorrow night

UPGRADE's

Swaped an 89 Mitz Paj diesel for a 92 Mitz Paj V6 (yes its a sicknes, sticking with itzy and IFS)

Hope I have done the right thing, more power, better running gear, but more fuel cost

Well I replaced my drivers side CV and upper ball joint and greased the spindles.

Fitted new free wheeling hubs (Thanks Steve!) and pulled the right rear axle to get ready to replace wheel bearings.

Well achievements was next to nil,repositioned my spare tyre carrier due to a new rear bar mounted,and drove out to Vandy rd with the intent to get grubby and a few scratches on an unknown track(to me),but this track hasnt been used in christ knows how long just a few pigdog tracks and a shit load of overgrowth!!Would be interesting to know when the last time someone actually drove through it?.

went to pureora forrest on fri nite for the weekend with my club. it was a great place and we only went on a very small amount of the tracks. wish i had sorted my truck in time to take it! next time aye. was a great weekend!

Saturday - got the last signatures needed for the Resource Consent Application to allow spectators at the February round of the the NZ4wd National Trials Comprtition at Ramarama - set Feb 25 aside - should be a great day.

Sunday - Went to Muriwai with the club - managed to smack my rear right cnr into our Presidents Land Rover no damage to him - another ding in my rear panel

Well I had a productive day. Took my front left CV off to find it had more dirt and weeds in it than worsley spur track Took my busted CV pulled it apart, robbed the bits off it and put a nice new boot on it and re-assembled. Swaped out the broken vacume mechanism on the ADD on the front diff. Now have a functioning 4wd again. Next weekend is diesel pump, wheel bearings and brake pads.

had work on sat night, finished 6am sunday morning and went straight round to h2o's to head out to the sheffield mud event

simply sensational day out there.. met some more ore members.. kept h2o company while he decided to make things interesting , (read- puttin truck on her side! ) real cool roll too..

after the great day i was well f**ked so headed home and crashed... |-)

Good stuff, I was in Turangi until fri morn. Looks like SH5, and Kiko road Lake taupo forest, might be a good place to play. Gonna talk to Min of Defence too.

i spent the weekend 4wding on sat with me brother. managed to blow 2 brand new C.V's in the front end we spent all last week fitting 4.88's and lokkas front and rear in his 2.8 lux and must've got all but 1hr out of the short side C.V and it went bang , we then replaced it out in the bush and managed to get about 2hrs more dirving before the longside went. after a bit of deliberation we packed a sad and went home. the weird thing the 2nd blew when he let the clutch out on a gravel road. he wasn't at much more than an idle. granted they were the 'cheap' C.V's but less than an hour! come on. on sunday we managed to finnish the exhuast on the 1KZ conv and pull the diffs out to fit a LSD in the front and a lokka in the rear.

It doesn't make the truck go any better, But it looks really cool.


You are supposed to be looking at the exhaust poking out the side.

Learnt that one the hard way too. Just buy OME secondhand now from wrecker=lasts longer.
Spent sat morning cuttng firewood(yes playing with chainsaw ), sat arvo getting truck ready for mudplug.
Had more fun on sunday then I have had for sometime and came back with an intact truck, but very dirty.

Baby, just wait until it gets lpg vapour injected with spark ignition. Should be able to get the flames about a foot long out the side.

Get some chromollys from the states. I have also heard the north island boys talking about a guy up there who does them too. As soon as you gear down and lock up both ends, CVs become the weakest link (hopefully). But they can be made a bit stronger, although not cheaply. But how many times do ya want too change CVs on the trail?

Nice exhast exit there....is that the fuel filler just above it

rock slider in front of rear guard,protection on rear 1/4 panel behind guard so what happens you smash the guard,is that not always the way

No, fuel filler has to be moved to back because we ahve moved the fuel tank.
Yeah you're right always ding the bit that isn't protected, But ah well shit happens. Have to get rid of the rust that the previous owner installed any ways...

well i went for a hunt on saturday got 13 goats with my shotgun

so he went for a 4wd with me then i dropped him off at a mates to mow the road edge

sunday i played with the chainsaw then worked on my truck
i found sumthing that could of caused a nice fire

Rokhound, how and where have you remounted your fuel filler? considering moving my tank and wondering how you did it

You don't want to know.
At the moment you have to squeeze the filler nozzle in between the chassis and the body and fill it direct into the tank.
I will be relocating the fuel tank filler spout to the side of the tank and towards the back. Will put in new filler flap in rear 1/4 panel up and behind rear gaurd. Will post up pics when it is done.
