mine runs fine just that it now has a bad diff. I was in the process of getting it ready for a paint job. Have taken the roof back to bare metal no rust even around the sun roof . Its to good to wreck would be a shame to part it out

well you might aswell unbolt the drive shaft? its going to have to come off anyway right? and then tell us what colour the paint is on the inside of the flange

pull the front diff out and put it in the back it will fit as the open diff will accommodate the longer OE locker axle.

leave the front shaft off and fit a piece of plywood over the hole for the front diff. start with 1 10mm hole and use a hammer to make where to drill the next hole by placing the ply over the studs and tapping the back of the ply marking where the next highest studs are

the oe locker will have two studs that are longer than the rest that is where the plunger is take the two studs out and replace them with donner studs off the front axle. use the double nut locked together method to remove and replace the studs

now you are mobile you have time to repair the rear diff or look for a second hand unit

Pull diffhead out and find out exactly what has broken - may only need a new crown wheel and pinnon in which case you can keep the rest of your diff and your lockers. After you know what is wrong maybe buy a 2nd hand diff and burgle the bits you need off it.

12 h turbo manual was 3.73 to one the autos were were 4.11 to one.

unfortunatley the hilux diff isn't an exact ratio match the closest suited one would be a G545. at 3.90 to one

the pinion and crown will. that's why he needs a diff code that starts with G cause the bearing sizes match the cruiser.

Didn't say the housing would match, the internals will

it turns out i got real lucky that the diff isnt completely stuffed. a year ago i bought the hj61 for the diffs to put into my 60 serries. Once i got them in my truck the rear diff lock didnt work. Turned out that the bolt that moves the diff lock gear into place was broken. Removed diff head to find no broken bits of bolt or not even any sign of it. So thought prevous owner had removed it.

So my diff is now in bits and i cant beleave that after a year that broken bolt head has been sitting in the front of the diff between the bearings. the bearings are buggered and the crush bearing suffered the worst. there is no damage what so ever to any of the Gears / Teeth.

Seems strange there has been no noise nothing. The funny thing is that the head of the bolt isnt munched up it still looks good as??
