˙hi

I have a 80 series vx with a 1hdt with åround 200km on the clock
It uses no oil or water

I bought it a few months ago, it has been modified a bit with a lift and some š35 inch tires

It accelerates really well but is smoking from hard acceleration, at first and second it leaves a small cloud. I was told it had been tuned, which it probablz has but the smoke and the 6 kilometers per litres is concerning

I am currently travelling around the south island, doing the not main roads and 4wd tracks open, with a czech girl, living in it, or camping nearbz or doc huts, so i cant have it off the road for to long being looked at.

Im in westport heading dfown to christchurch in the next week, id like to get a opinion or two about it, if its just over fuelling, or more serious problem, id love to get someone with a bit of +hdt or diesel experience to have a quick look over before i send it back to diesel an turbo in wellington an cut the trip short . have onlz got as far south as westport in two weeks. with a few months still planned

so if you can recommend a good shop or could take it for a quick spin id love to hear fréom you

ps also keen to go out on any familz-shinz type group trips if any are going in

cheers

Those first few puffs of smoke on hard acceleration can sometimes be caused by turbo lag, it's normally unburnt diesel. And if it's not using oil, I wouldn't be too worried. I'm no mechanic though.

i asume its black smoke your talking about?. If it is then its most likly that it needs the fuel screw wound back abit.

"Tuned" may mean someone has just wound the fuel up to the max  Maybe take it to a specialist diesel workshop and get them to check and adjust the fuelling
