of course it wont bolt straight up thats why they have adaptors
you'll need an aftermarket bellhousing to mate the commy engine to the lux gearbox or use a manual commy bellhousing (if you can find one) and get an adaptor plate made up to mate it up to the lux box. Dunno much about the commy stuff but I think if your ecotec is the series II engine (VR-VY) the ecu runs an electronic auto box so you'll need to see if that can be bypassed to get it out of limp mode and make it run without the auto or use an aftermarket ecu, if its the earlier V6 engine the auto isnt electronicly controled so the ecu will work fine with a manual box hanging off the engine. The commy motors have a shallow mid bowl sump so there really good for starving oil and running the crank bearings offroad so it might be worth looking into sump mods if your going to be using the truck offroad
other than that there cool motors that'll make your old lux get up and go

the mate just put a holden auto v6 in his suzuki, the spline from the end of the gear box slides into a isuzu bighorn transfer case (has to be from a auto bighorn gearbox), once together it leaves the shaft exposed so a adaptor plate needs to be made. seen them on trade me and rather expensive. very easy if you have steel and can weld, prob dosent look the flashest but only little pieces required so we made it for free. we just doing the conversion for the first time and encountered no probelms so far.

sweet i didn't think that it would bolt on but thought id c if anyone knew something i didn't . the Holden g-box/motor is a Manuel one i forgot to say that and it is going to be used for 4x4n so mite have to look into a bigger sump. anyone done it before?
Re: 1982 hilux 2.2 diesel to V6 commodore engine conversion.
just somethimg to think about, sell the manual motor and box and buy an auto motor you would prob get good money for it. the other reason is i think the manual cranks are diffrent to the auto and if you do blow a motor it easy to get another auto cheap

I will have an auto with the transfer box adaptored onto it for sale some time in the future if you are not in any hurry. It is out of a VP so has no issues with eletrics in the trans.

Thats mint
.
Think I might do this to the Narvara and ditch the devorced transfer which is in it.
Sooooo, what do I need to find?
The Narvara has a VN auto. Is the output shaft on the auto the same as the manual?
Cheers Tom

gotta be an auto i think, iv seen a transfer case from a manual isuzu and it wont work as its part of the gearbox, but the auto runs independent from the gearbox so no probs. So the setup that weve used is, holden v6 3.8 auto with isuzu bighorn auto transfer case.
