Quick bodylift question (vitara)

Nooby as question time

Ok so I have had to replace my old chassis as it was a gonna, I did't realise that I needed to get a cert on it after I got it all changed over, thought it was a case of filling out forms etc, so chose not to do any cert worthy mods.

However seeing that I need a cert now I may as well fit the body lift I have had laying around for a while. It's is only a small 1 inch lift.

So first of all will the standard bolts be fine? Secondly the diameter is 76mm with a 13mm hole in the middle, so do I just place them on top of the rubber mounts? or below them? If below them do they need some machining as the indents in the chassis are not big enough for them?

Thanks for asking my nooby questions.

Cheers
Lincoln

I would put the blocks on the bottom if possible, but on top should be fine as long as outer diameter matches that of the rubber. If not, just put some large flat washers in between. You will need longer bolts, 1" is too much tread engagement to lose and it wouldn't be strong enough.

Let me know when you want the bolts I can get insane prices

I was under the impression that 49mm body lift and under did not requre a cert? May have just been a myth.

Also have a good cert guy when you need it

Update to wof virm has just been done, all body lifts requires cert.
I'm glad they've finally cleared that up...

I may be throwing fuel on the fire here, BUT
why did you tell them you have replaced the chassis? I would of just said the vehicle has undergone restoration :?
Sometimes you're too honest Lincoln :)

Cheers,

I wanted to scrap my old chassis, I may still say nah and just put it through a WoF any way and just say I was looking at replacing the chassis if it ever comes up. I need it soon to let my daily have a rest. Its starting to freak out with so much driving.

But yes, I am to honest.

A few extra layers of paint and a splash of mud may be the order of the day
