Running a Diesel on Used Engine Oil.

Recently I have been reading up on running a Diesel on a mix of used Engine Oil and Diesel. There are quite a few people in the UK doing this.I was wondering if anyone has experiance of this in New Zealand.
The technique is to decant the Oil into containers and leave to sit,so any sludge falls to the bottom.Draw off the top 95% and filter through a .5 Micron Filter,a Oil filter on an Engine filters down to .1 Microns so your catching twice as much.
Then the Oil is mixed with Diesel at a ratio of 50%.Some people are running 60/40 in the Summer.Apparantly the Carbon in the Oil lubricates the Pump as well as the additives in the used Oil.
I have run my Chev 6.2 and a Unimog on 50/50 Diesel/unused Engine Oil.I found 120 Liters of Oil in a shed that was probably close to 30 years old.I experianced no more smoke or difficulty in starting,Exhaust temperature was slightly lower than normal and power was the same. The only downside was the exhaust gas smelled terrible.
