could well be glowplugs. if you have a multimeter or a bulb and a bit of wire, you can test to see if you have power to the rail and see if the glows have died without having to take the glows out.
no idea about insurance. glows don't cost much so probably not worth it. also they may class it as wear rather than breakage.
