hypothetically save a lot of cash for spare RUCs while you sit in the slammer for 7 years, provided you've got some cash in the bank on a good interest rate

some guy over the fence and down past the black stump says you remove the instrument cluster, undo the black clips that hold the face on the cluster, undo the phillips screws that hold the speedometer in the instrument cluster casing.

With a pair of long nose pliers you slide out the 2.5 mm steel rod that holds the 6 cogs against the rolling numbers, adjust to desired reading and reverse the procedure.

This also apply's to the later facelifted 96 onwards models.

there is a truck i know of that even though is road legal is purely for "off roading" and only does around 2000k a year.

or ya could just snap the cog in the sender like i did by accident lol, ya fail a warrent for that though

so, once again hypotheticly speaking, you can disengage the odometer reading without affecting the speedo?

hypothetically its one of the new dashes and can you not just put a switch in so i can just switch it off when im off road so i can be just a little bit ethical about it, hypothetically of coarse

yes you can switch it off, still requires removing the cluster to get the right wire, also you will loose your over drive when switched off,

As for the previous poster only the actual speed reading(needle) must work for a WOF.

hypothetically. my old 1994 terrano wide body round dash was electronic and some days when i would wash it. to go outer town. i would accidentally knock the female plug on gearbox with the washing sponge and it would unplug the sender and the speedo would stop.

HAHAHAHAHA with a sponge?

The first time mine stopped was because the white bit that the cable pluged into was "cracked"

hypothetically on drivers side you can see the sender.just in front of transfer case. the plug is about 200mm from sender. there is two plugs one is for 4wd sender light on dash one is spedo. hypothetically

"(hypothetically") speaking you wire in a DPDT switch (double pole double throw)

The reason for this you ask, as you turn the signal wire off from the speed sender to the instrument cluster you are turning on a bypass for the over drive.

basically cutting out the speedometer from the circut but still allowing the transmission to work properly...how ever when off road("hypothetically") you wouldn't be using overdrive anyway.....aye?
