Post by spacegoat »

Space Gear 2.8 oil change coming up ... My company uses allied petroleum.
So i can get Mobil Delvac at a good price . but i dont know to much about there semi syn oil there web site is crap so is there call centre , i dont believe they run a semi syn oil for light turbo diesel in 15w 40 other than going to a heavy duty diesel full syn , yes a newbie on this but not a newbie to life around engineering .

if you use Mobil Delvac i would use Mobil Delvac MX. the others are all CJ rated which is not all that great for older engines. its mineral oil not synthetic by the looks of it.

thanks tweake ,
being that i run a full or a semi syn in all my bikes or would like to do the same
in the spacegear being its only done Low k's , I believe this van has only had a mineral oil in it, but i would like to be safe and throw here some good oil for the next few K's i will travel in her .
I would prefer to drop the oil at 10 k syn oil over a 5 k with a mineral oil , i just dont yet too know enough about the heavy duty diesel syn oil range through the mobil product range .

no problem running semi synthetic oil and provided its not burning oil a full synthetic is fine. however a 10k oil change is not advised unless its the manufactures interval. the only way i would be doing extended oil change intervals is if a bypass oil filter was fitted.

the other thing is not run CJ or any oil suitable for DPF's. these oils have the old good additives removed and replaced with others. the older motors work better with the older additives.
