Terrano from West Auckland. Bit of a work in progress...

Hi everyone,

I picked up a beaut 4x4 a couple months back and it's been a huge load of fun:

The Terrano's a '93 2.7L Diesel Turbo with 148kms on the clock. Spent a bit of time tidying it up; so far I've:
1) Replaced the Thermostat, Fuel Filter, Air & Oil Filters, plus new Oil.
2) Lightly sanded back around 1/3rd of the chassis rails, cleaned with zinc phosphate followed by POR15.
3) Cleaned leaves out of the a/c fan.
4) Kitted it with a Snatch Strap, 2 Shovels, Shackles, Compressor and random bits of wood. Tried a little bit of 4wd'ing and haven't had to use anything yet.

And I plan to:
1) Replace the severely rusted rear bumper (not much luck tracking down a chrome one).
2) Finish painting underneath and sort a bits of rust in places.
3) Tint it.
4) Put in a decent stereo (for now the sweet hum of a diesel is more then enough).
5) Replace a broken air vent in the centre console & broken spot light switch.
6) Drown underneath in fish oil.

Hope to meet some of you guys soon.

Here's a photo of the leaves that came out of a/c fan:

And the freshly painted chassis:

Genuine Nissan goodies to hopefully take care of it for a while:

BTW: when I try to use my clear net email address for this website I get the following error "The e-mail address xxxxx@clear.net.nz is not valid in phpBB". Had to use my gmail account to get access.

Welcome to ORE. Have you thought about joining a club? Norwest OHV Club are doing a beach run in the next couple of weeks. You could tag along as a guest and meet a few of the guys and learn a few tips.

Cheers,
Simon

Thanks everyone.

Simon - Yes I have thought of joining a club but haven't looked far enough into it yet. Keen as to tag along to the beach drive; where can I find more info?

I'm also interested in doing some 4wd driver training. Did a quick search of the forum but couldn't find any recent posts recommending somewhere; so I might give the $95 intro up at the Jeep 4wd Park in Woodhill a shot.

We are looking at running some training fairly soon for some of the newer members.
Beach run info is also on the Auckland 4x4 Club site.

Give Nick an email.
Something tells me it may be a big turn out.

Woodhill is fun, tag along with some like trucks and learn as you go

Cheers,

Thanks for the info; I'll drop Nick an email & hopefully see you out there.

I did Wilsons Rd a couple weeks back - nice track and not too difficult. I'd like to explore the dunes near the top but it's not ideal with only one 4wd.

Also shot up to Waionui Inlet which was a bit of fun. Such a shame to see the Ti-Tree Island in such bad condition with rubbish and abandoned car wrecks strewen through it though.
