Diff Ratios

hey guys and girls.

I've heard a few rumors around the mill on the Australian Forums that NZ has a few different models of Vitara. And that these vitara's might run higher diff ratios than what ours do.

I currently am running a 5.125 Ratio and i really need something higher so i can Keep my 31" tyres on. The ratio's i've heard of are

5.375 gears have an 8/43 tooth count
5.625 gears have an 8/45 tooth count

Would be very interested in the 5.625 but even the 5.375's would be better than what i've got...

Can anyone shed some light on this???

Cheers
Rob

Hey man, I've only seen 5.125 and higher over here. Nothing that low but I have heard of the elusive ratios your after, just never seen anything for sale.

Did the long wheel base Vitara's come out with 4.6 ratio diffs?.

Escudo and Vitara both manual and auto with G16A 16V engines had 5.125 diffs
the 3dr G16A 8V autos which didn't have overdrive had 4.625s in them

there are some of the later G16A 16V autos which got the 4 speed + OD auto in them which had 4.875's in them

being TA01-8##### something i'd say its a 1995-1997 vintage. if its manual its 5.125, if its auto it could be either 4.875 or 5.125

Think the diffs i have are 5.1 as 5 turns of the input to one turn of the ring gear, is this correct?.

they are either 4.875 or 5.125 as 1 is just shy of 5 turns the other is just over 5 turns.
