Sourcing Terrano steering parts, south island

Post by uptomynutsinruts »

Hi all,

Terrano failed its warrent on a few things today

Play in outer tie rods (left and right)
Play in Drop Arm
Play in Idler Arm
Headlight Alignment
Handbrake needs tightening/adjusting/new shoes

Where is the best place to get the steering parts from? I have been quoted around $150 for the tie rods and idler arm, waiting on a price for the drop arm.
Also, what do you think could be wrong with the handbrake?

She's still for sale...
Want it gone to make way for a new truck, need something more suited to the road as all I do is drive between Rangiora and Ashburton and I cant see the point in wearing out the 33s.
Here's a link for anyone whose interested, could do it cheaper for ORE Members

Cheers all,
Mike

Is the rear brakes a disc/drum set up or just the drum?

The hand brake shoes for these are expensive little feekers. Unbolt the disc calipers and remove the drums. See what lining is left on the shoes. If more than 2mm of lining, adjust the trunnions on the bottom of the shoes before you put drums back on. Bolt calipers back on. All done. The trunnions can be adjusted with drums on, but you need a small screwdriver with a bend in just the right place to do it. BNT for tie rod ends. Drop arm (Pittman) don't have any wear points, so it will most likely be the draglink tie points with the movement

Cheers,
I keep looking for the loose nut behind the wheel, but I can't find it!!

You guys are Farkin awesome cheers

May end up nicking parts off the river truck but its entered for the sheffield mudplug so don't want to do that.

Will try a few of the places suggested, just want this truck gone so I can start a fresh and put my own signature on a truck, a diesel discovery :)
