Max Tyre size

Post by MUZZADUCK »

There is a 'rumour' going 'round' that 4x4s will be limited to 33 inch max tyres (measured horizontally at axle) for heavy trucks, 32 inch -medium, and 31 for light, for access to rural properties and 'other' Tax payer land in the South Island....Oh dear...

cool...I can feel safe that I'll comply with the "Weight VS Tyre size" rule, I have a 5 door landcruiser as well now and it definitely complies with the weight rule, and being that it's only on 33's it will do virtually no track damage at all :?:
should I use the diff locks

People like me wear several uniforms and have several vehicles and will turn up to a lions club scenic trip in the daily driver with the children as well as go balls to the wall with a trailer queen.
I may bump into Muzzaduck one day :P
(excuse the pun)

theres a rumour going around that a moderator's going to be a bit Image off when he finds out he's going to have to pull a pile of flaming out of some threads and calm the place down after some noobie thinks he's being a smartarse winding the Image out of everyone playing games

Don't panic, things will settle down a bit while he's doing his homework and getting ready for school in the morning. Most of his posts seem to occur after school is let out.

hmm measured horizontal at axle, must mean we can run 66" tires to obtain the 33" at axle height.

Muzza, take it from someone thats both dealt with you in the past (and thinks youre an ok dude), and been on here for a little while (and spat my lolly and packed my bags on at least one occasion too) take the Creedo of "TREAD LIGHTLY" literally here too pal.

You may believe wholeheatedly in what youre professing, and I cant hold that against you (even though I may not agree) but you'll only alienate yourself from the outset charging in and speading your version of the word from one thread to another.

Unfortunately pal, you've pretty much drawn battle lines with commenatary to date.

So Farmers and other land owners are going to be dictated to by the minority? LOL....

I know of one very peed off run holder that had to abondon his ute after he let a bunch of clowns on his property. They ripped the be geezers out of an uphill in a gully that was essential for access. Had to get a Dozer in to fix the track. You can guess what happened then.
I must apolodgise for taking dozens of vehicles thru there over the years since and with proper driving techniques and the banning of the hoons (mostly large tyre crowd)and a bit of maintenance, access is maintained. Farmers do talk to one another....

No, They have the right to let in or keep out who ever they see fit. As did the farmer in your example.
I know of several land owners who are more than happy to let people they know and trust take their 'large' tyred 4wds through their property.
And if someone stuffs it up and any of the farmers/land owners say piss off, then that is the farmers right.
We as 4wders need to be responsible if we wish to maintain these good relationships with Landowners.
As has been said by many people on this Forum, Land access in most places is a privilege not a right and we need to Tread Lightly to retain tht access.
As in any recreational pastime there are always muppets who can stuff it up for the responsible majority.
